Community bingo is happening at the Vesper Community Center this Saturday January 7th. The community center is located at 1247 N 120th Rd, Lincoln KS 67455 a mile south of Hwy 18. In December, over 140 players and spectators came from Lincoln, Russell, Ellsworth, Mitchell, Ottawa, Saline, Dickinson, Osborne, and Rice counties and watched a free Elvis performance. 128 visitors stayed and played Bingo after the show. Over $550 in prize money was awarded, and Carly Zaylor from Abiline won the jackpot round.
For visitors and players looking for affordable family dining this Saturday, community center volunteers will be selling grilled burgers and cheeseburgers, home made chicken noodle soup, chocolate and coconut cream meringue pies, cinnamon rolls, ice cream sundaes, floats, popcorn and other snacks to fund raise for the community center and its programs. The pies and cinnamon rolls are sponsored by Kansas MidWest Homes & Movers and the popcorn is sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred seed from Sylvan Grove.
Doors and concessions open at 5:30pm . There will also be free raffles for $5 concession food gift certificates. Bingo starts at 7:00 pm and intermission begins after the first 10 games generally around 8:30 pm, with another 10 games that follow. All 20 games can be played for as little as $6. The circa 5000 square foot community center is available for rentals for weddings, parties, auctions, memorials and meetings and can comfortably accommodate as many as 300 people. The following month on Monday February 6th the Post Rock Community Foundation will be having their kick off dinner for their annual fundraising “match month.” The dinner is open to the public (with RSVP). On Saturday February 18th the annual Vesper Farm Show will be held from 9am to 2pm. 20 vendors are expected and ag, ranch and financial service vendors will be there to offer their expertise and gimmees.
