Vesper Crafts Markets begin THIS month

The Vesper Community Center, a non-profit 501c3 facility run by local volunteers, will be hosting its second annual Craft Market with three dates on Saturday Oct. 29th from 9a-5p, Sunday Nov. 13th from 1pm-5pm and Saturday Dec. 10th from 9a-5p.  Vendors can sign up and display on up to 3 tables for $10 per show or $25 for all three.  Additional display tables are $5.  Public admission is free and there will be free door prizes given away throughout the day.

After volunteering to host the Vesper Farmers Market last year, Denah Jensen, noticed that many of the Farmers Market Vendors were also crafters and they had some wonderful items for holidays and gifts but, like herself, were not keen on traveling the many miles to other Craft Shows.  Wanting to give these vendors more exposure and time to sell, Mrs. Jensen approached the Vesper Community Board and made a request to host three Craft Markets.

The Board approved Mrs. Jensens’ request and the Vesper Craft Market was born. With vendors from, as far away as, Wichita to as near as ‘down the road’. According to Jensen, “last years Craft Market was a beginner’s success.” The shows averaged 18 vendors per event and a multitude of patrons shopping.  More vendors are expected this year.

This year, Mrs. Jensen asked the board if she could host another set of 3 Craft Markets for the Christmas shopping season. The events and a budget were approved.  Within hours of posting via the Vesper Community Center page, Mrs. Jensen received a half dozen request for booth space. Several from last  years Craft Market, like Karen Brumbaugh who makes delicious Apple Butter and more, Cathy Hoosier, $5 Little Luxuries selling Paparazzi Jewelry, PSB Woodworkings and Crafts and Alita Flaherty of Aleta’s Simple Crafts and Decor will be attending. here are some new Vendors too, Priscilla from Frankies with Baked Goods, BJ’s Craft’n and Scrappin, Rita Maupin Crafts and Baked Goods, Stacy’s Buns-Artisian Breads and Cathy with Homemade Soaps will be attending. Over a dozen vendors (and counting) have already signed up through the Vesper community site website page at http://www.vespercc.org/vesper-crafts-shows/

There is still time and space for Vendors to sign up for one or all three event dates.  When asked what she likes most about volunteering to coordinate the crafts shows, Denah responded “The best part of hosting these events is getting to meet people in my Community and giving them a place to showcase their amazing talents and gifts.”
